One More Day!!!

August 20, 2006. Well, tomorrow’s the big day. It’s hard to believe this day has finally come. We feel so blessed to be here together as we bring Leah into our lives. We just finished packing her diaper bag and double checking to make sure we have everything we need in order. We’re not sure how long after we land in Guangzhou until we actually see her. We’d be happiest if she was waiting to greet us as we stepped off the plane.
After breakfast this morning we joined our group and made our way to Tiananmen Square. It was pretty amazing to stand in the world’s largest city square. Across the square is the entrance to the Forbidden City. We walked through the city and took in the many sites and fascinating ancient culture. After touring the city, we took a rickshaw ride through the Hutong in Old Beijing. A Hutong is a series of family communities constructed around fresh water wells located throughout the old city. The area is like a maze of zigzag alleys and closed in homes. Years ago, up to four or five generations of families would live in each home. They say that many of the homes are up to 200 years old. A rickshaw is a bicycle driven 2-person cart.
Tomorrow’s the big day and we still have some last minute things to do so we’ll cut this short. From this point forward, we’ll have much more interesting posts and plenty of pictures of Leah!!! Yeah!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH, oh my goodness, you are just hours away from holding Leah. Philip was giddy last night talking about it...I am serious...a 36 year old Marine was on cloud nine for you two and for Leah. We wondering, since you will be in Guangzhou, if you would mind swing up to GuangNing and snaging our daughter?? She is not a liquid, so it should be a piece of cake to get her through security:) We are on pins and needles waiting to hear about the moment you become a forever family!! Try to get some sleep. Much love, Philip & Shelby

Dear Leah,
I wish I could be there when you are put in your Mommy and Daddys arms. It will be a moment that they will remember the rest of their lives. At that time you will begin your new life with your FOREVER FAMILY!!!
