Pearl River Evening Cruise

August 29, 2006. Last night we took an evening cruise on the Pearl River. The scenery was fascinating. We loved watching the river’s jade-green water splash along the side of the boat and seeing the beautiful lights along Guangzhou’s skyline as the sun went down.
The Pearl River is one of the tourist highlights in Guangzhou and is sometimes compared to Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor. Our hotel, the White Swan, is located right along the river. Each morning as we’re eating breakfast we watch the fishing boats, ferries, and swimmers (yes swimmers) pass by the glass wall overlooking the river. Every evening, there’s a light show along the river and all the boats, buildings and bridges are lit up like Christmas trees!
Leah was an absolute dream on the cruise. We were wondering how she’d do on this three hour trip seeing as though she was teething and had been a little testy earlier in the day. She did so well. She was happy the entire trip. She fell asleep on the bus ride home, but woke up just in time to play for a while in the room before we went to bed!
