My First Cheerio

Aug 30, 06. Today was a day of firsts. Daddy fed Leah her first Cheerio...Granddad and Grandpa should be proud. We’ve been trying off and on to get her to eat them…and she finally did today. You can see that she made a pretty funny face, but she managed to eat a few. None of the babies from her orphanage had been introduced to regular food or fed anything with the spoon. Our facilitator, Shiyan, suggested we start with something sweet or salty. We brought Cup-a-Soup with us, so we put some of the soup broth into a bottle a few days ago and she quickly drank it. Yesterday, she ate some of the soup broth from the spoon. Today, she ate some rice cereal mixed with the soup broth. Then today, she had her first Cheerio. Then, to top the day off…at dinner, Mommy fed her some Chinese noodles using chopsticks. Needless to say, we’re very happy with the progress she’s made in just a few days. Her cold seems to be getting better and her teeth didn’t seem to bother her much today.

Dear Leah,
Sounds like you are venturing into the new world of solid food. You just wait until you try Granddads favorite CHOCOLATE. I can see both of you enjoying chocolate chip cookies or chocolate pie(those are Granddads favorites), if Mommy & Daddy say no we will just over ride them like all good grandparents!
HUGS & KISSES!!!!
Love Grandma Mason
